Lower Tier Sororities Aren't Obsessed with Ranks

by: Fy PNM

Going through recruitment now, I don't hear any of the supposed lower tier sororities talking smack about other orgs or obsessing over ranks. And honestly that's making me like the lowers more. I mean, if you focus more on what frats you drink with than onwhat makes your members special, then how strong are you really?

I’ve been having more fun with lower ranked sororities than top tier. I was at a party today for a top tier and they asked where I was before and when I named that sorority (which was lower) she laughed and said “ew u don’t belong there”. It was so rude and upsetting.

That's so disrespectful and inappropriate. "High" and "Low" are made up - by fraternities! It's a joke! You don't choose your people by who invites them to parties. You choose them because of who they are. The truly quality organizations will show themselves by simply being who they are. And agree - I have been having more enjoyable and positive experiences at the supposedly lower tier sororities!

OMG, I was shocked by how many sororities made derogatory comments about other sororities. It's a real turn-off. And especially so early in the process. You're told to go in with an open mind but then you have girls trying to put down other organizations or cast them in a bad light

Uhhhhh… yeah but the concept of high and low fraternities is also determined by sororities, though some care a lot less about only socialing with high frats than others

As far as I can tell, it's a choice between 1) Top Tier / you want that constant ego-boost of "status" or popularity, and 2) Lower Tier / you want real friends.

I'm not going to be judgmental and say one is better than the other. Some girls honestly find their self-worth in who they associate with. If you need that, you be you.

But personally, I'm seeking ride-or-die friendships and college memories to last a lifetime. So, lower tiers are feeling more authentic so far in the process.
