Warning: These ranks should be taken loosely. There is no universal standard for how to rank these houses. Form your own opinions!

Don’t join suspended Chapters!! They cannot guarantee that they will return to campus how they used to be. In fact, some never come back at all. Sammy is a great example of a Top Tier house that was never allowed back by their nationals.

Top Tier: Most Social Houses
1. Dchi, Pike([Social Probations], Acacia (Sig Chi would be in the first seed but they are suspended. BSB is also a great shout for too sees but they have probations too)
2. Sig Ep, ATO, Lambda, AEPi (Lambda and AEPi have more in common with DU and TKE than they do with the first five houses. For that reason these house are highly interchangeable depending on the recruits and the time of year)
3. DU, TKE, Phi Psi, Phi Who (Phi Psi and Phi Who are not really top tier. They are simply popular enough with people on campus to be considered at the border of Top Tier. AGR and TDX can easily fight for those spots with some more focused recruitment)

Middle Tier: Socials are just as good as Top but the crowds are average
4. AGR, TDX, Sig Pi, Fiji (Sig Pi used to be a top Tier house. They simply stopped socializing enough to hold that standard in the last four years. Fiji is always limited by being on-campus but they are social enough to be this high up)
5. Chi Phi, AKL, Pikapp, TEP (Chi Phi can sometimes switch to 4th. AKL, PiKapp, TEP are always rebuilding their numbers. They are Dark Horses ready to grow into the 4th seed with better recruitment. Their socials are consistently great. Kappa Sig would be on this seed if they weren’t suspended)

Lower Tier: Inconsistent with Socials
6. APD, Skulls, Far Sig, ZBT (APD took the ZBT house and that could mean they can make it to the middle tier with better recruitment. All these houses are good, but they don’t always fill their houses when they have socials)
7. PKT, Alpha Sig, SAE, LambdaPi (these houses don’t social very well. However they have strong brotherhoods from what people say. If you’re introverted and laid back I would start with these houses. DKE would be on this seed if they had not been suspended)
8. Treehouse, AZ, DTS, Triangle, mudhouse (These houses also don’t social much. However, they are a great source of branching out and finding a niche to be a part of)

If you’re a recruit, branch out and form your own opinions. If you’re just looking to party, then these ranks are pretty accurate and yet they’ll be different by the end of October. That’s just how it is at Penn State.
