what’s esa?

ESA is kind of like a sorority but not officially on Panhellenic from my understanding. Nationally they are a community service org, but at psu they function as a sorority. They would be on par with mid tier two level sororities. They social with AEPi, acacia TKE, Lambda, and occasionally Sammy.

It all depends on what you want. If you want to be Greek--don't go this route. They are basically an underground drinking club. End of story. If you want to be part of the Greek community and participate in all Greek events, live with your sisters, have opportunities for leadership training and development, be part of a national network where your kids/grandkids can benefit from your legacy, enjoy the benefits of a strong alumnae network after graduation etc, you should go Greek. If you are only looking for a cheap group that will help you get into parties and get laid, this is your way in.
