how can a sorority go up if no one gives it a chance?

I get why sororities start at the bottom, but it seems like they stay at the bottom. Like, social pairings never change and good frats don’t invite new sororitys to social, so I don’t understand how they’re ever expected to go up. It’s not like they can throw parties and move up like frats.

You are completely correct. It is the double standard. The only way to really move up is if someone gets kicked off because the frats would rather play it safe and continue with an old pair (even if they don't show up or just show up and take pictures of themselves) than invite someone considered "lower" for fear their delicate social stock will be impacted. It is really an awful system that would benefit from randomly assigned pairs. If IFC and Panhel implemented something that the whole system would benefit. It happens on other campuses and there is greater Greek unity.
