if u have rush questions pop it in here.

by: Advice column

Hey if freshman have questions before zone days or rush week throw them in here. My biggest advice off the bat is hit as many houses zone day as possible, meet as many guys in each house so you have an idea of the fraternity as a whole, and also look around at the other guys there that are rushes and become friends with them because if you are finding the same few people at the same houses that you are going to each night make sure to reach out to them and not just the brothers. These guys could be your potential pc and they are just as important as the current brothers too.

10 registered per semester. If ur on probation u cant throw down at all or very rarely like once or twice. Some throw down way later in the night while on probation and u can find the probation list on google

I’d personally recommend joining a top, upper mid, mid, or lower mid frat. Also try to rush somewhere rising. A lot of houses are getting worse in the current state of affairs.

Is “by reading greekrank” an actual serious answer?

100% its a serious answer. I'm not saying that's my advice, but some kids definitely decide where to rush based on greekrank.

People say you should rush where you fit in well. But I don’t really get this. What does that really mean? When I went to zone days a lot of the conversations I had with brothers were really similar across the frats to be honest. Sorry if it seems like a stupid question I’d just like advice.

The whole point of rush is to see where you fit in, don’t forget it’s a two week period to check out a house in depth and what they are saying is take your bid where you fit in well.

I understand what you are saying. The initial conversations are all similar because everyone is looking for a common ground to move beyond the "What's your major? Where are you from?" type questions. The houses where you will fit in best are where you easily transition from these conversation starters into better more relaxed conversations. This transition is normally easier for most with some houses more so than others. By the time you have been to a few parties, it should feel comfortable and fun vs. like an interview.

I heard that during zone week there is no alcohol, I was wondering if that’s true for all frats, some frats, or no frats.

How hard is it to rush a top-tier frat when I'm OOS?

Unless that state is jersey or New York it’s nearly impossible.

Doesn’t make a difference. All that matters is if the guys think you fit in. Already knowing brothers beforehand helps a lot with the higher tiers
