No sorority should ever haze, and no PNM should ever tolerate it. Anyone who calls you a sister does not abuse you. Several sororities have a strictly enforced anti-hazing policy (Sigma Kappa is known nationally for its leadership in this area, for example), and when rushing, you should ask straight-up what their policies and practices are for prospective members. Browsing national websites of each sorority can often give you a good idea of their level of commitment towards anti-hazing and anti-bullying. Hope this helps.

Advisor, you are wrong. Every PNM has a right to ask what a new member program entails. And by asking specifically about hazing, they are making it clear that they will not tolerate hazing and have no intention of being part of any organization or culture that condones or practices hazing.
