“bottom tier” sorority

by: H

Does anyone have experience in a bottom tier sorority. What was it like and are you glad you stuck with it

This is a question you need to decide yourself! Tiers are so arbitrary. Don't make it complicated. Get to know the sisterhood. If you like the women, then pledge. If you don't, don't. You shouldn't have to feel you're "sticking it out" being a part of any organization. Think for yourself and stop being so concerned about stupid tiers or what others think.

I don’t even get why girls care about sorority tiers. Guys caring about frat tiers yes. But girls can get into any frat party they want

So not true..a guy is in a frat and that frat can literally just throw down whenever like they are always guaranteed plans and if you’re not in a sorority that a frat is socialing with (unless you’re super hot or friends with a brother) it is not easy to get into a random frat.

If you like the sisters, what's "tier" got to do with it? This is college. Caring about who the cool kids are on a campus of 50,000+ students sounds like petty high school stuff. Grow up, find your own friends, and stop giving a damn about stupid things like perceived tiers. All that matters is who do you want to hang with. Are these people you can envision making memories of a lifetime with? That's the point of being part of a sorority.

My experience (and yes this is a broad generalization) is that the higher tiers are mostly focused on parties and more superficial things. I had options but ultimately chose a lower-middle because I wanted, and found, true friends and a community where I can be myself. Never looked back and no regrets! And, oh yeah, no one here would ever call me sister, then try to haze me.

As far as I can tell, the only difference between high and low tiers is "mean and catty" (high) versus "nice and down to earth" (low). Seems like an easy choice, lol.

I don't think it's really fair to bash "higher tier" sororities though. Seems kinda judgy if you ask me. Every sorority has mean girls and every sorority has nice girls. Just pick one that you feel at home despite the tier.

I tell rushees that the healthiest way to approach the process is to "go in blind" and not even ask about tiers or listen to people's opinions about tiers. Because that's all they are -- opinions. I knew nothing about what sorority was supposedly what, and in the end, chose what some categorize as a low-tier...and I couldn't be happier! I love where I am and wear my letters proudly. I preffed another sorority that's supposedly high-tier, and if I listened to the hype and not to myself, I'd be miserable there. Just be open to all possibilities and do what feels right for you. Whatever your fit, it WILL be a positive one. Good luck!

If you're confident and don't need your self-esteem defined by an arbitrary popularly contest, you will LOVE whatever sorority you choose. Go for a bottom tier. Go for whatever you want. Tiers MEAN NOTHING! For real.

It's like Heidi Klum says, "One day you're in, the next day you're out!" When I pledged, my sorority was high-tier, now it's lower. My friend went for a bottom she loved, and now they're higher. Ranks change all the time, and if you let tiers rule your decision making, you're going to miss out on a lot of opportunities and great college experiences.
