how to fix depression
by: Sad#1by: Hi
Honestly, I’m sure people are going to say “get off Greek rank” but I’m happy you at least took the first step to getting help. Please please please tell a loved one you are struggling. It might seem scary at first but as soon as you tel someone it will all get easier. People love you and care about you. <3

Changes of scenery, shifts in perspectives, and TIME. I know, sometimes it can seem like kind of a cliche statement, but you really are not alone. There are so many people out there who are so ready and willing to offer support to you right now. Take it from someone who knows, talking to someone about what you're going through, (even if at first you don't know what to talk about or where to start) makes all the difference.

Here's what helped me:
1) just going to talk to a counselor. I always kept my depression hidden & going to talk to someone took so much of that pressure and weight off. You won't inconvenience them or anything, it's literally their job to listen and help. They genuinely want to help too, that's why they have that job.
2) eat healthy, exercise. Get the endorphins flowing. It's good for you and has been proven to improve your mood, plus you'll feel healthy and accomplished and that'll def make you feel better.
3) Get out of your room and go outside. Depressed people tend to isolate themselves and that just makes it worse. Actually going out and interacting with people is immensely useful. Staying inside & hiding from everything just keeps you in that cyclical spiral of depression, going outside & interacting with people is one of the most important and beneficial things you can do to get rid of depression.
You've already taken the hardest step to fixing depression, which is asking for help. So congrats, you've already done the hardest part! Personally, I've found each of these things ^^ really helped me. I've had depression for years and trust me I know what it's like. I know how hard it is and how you feel like you can't escape it or get rid of it. Talking to a counselor is something I wish I'd done so much sooner, so I can't express highly enough how much it helped me. Depression is something they're professionally trained to help fix. I still remember feeling super proud and happy after my first talk with my counselor, it felt unbelievably cathartic to know that I'd done it and really felt like a huge weight had been taken off. All you have to do is just have a convo about what's been bothering you, and they'll listen because they care. It's super easy and it was SOOO helpful. This list really worked for me, I hope you find it helpful. We're all rooting for you OP <3
