coaches?

by: star

I think some girls do get coaches. There was an article in the New York Times in 2012 titled "Pledge Prep, Prepping Students for Sorority Rush". UVA was highlighted. I think the girls who do have coaches don't talk ever about it. I hate to say it but your friends are also your competition. There are only so many spots in each sorority and everyone wants to get in a good one. It's a weird, stressful time. Not so much if you're content if you're above playing the status game. Good luck!

My coach really helped me after the first round by getting realistic about chances. I got cut from many houses I loved and felt like I fit in. When I met the girls from these houses I absolutely loved them and I still feel that I connect more with them than girls of the house I eventually joined. My coach helped me be realistic.

I don’t love my house but don’t hate it, I’m just there for now.. They're nice to me and all but I don’t feel like I fit in with them very well. The whole “trust the process” is kinda bs. I guess for some it does workout but there are still a number of girls who it doesn’t work for, and they drop before match day because they don't want to have to accept a bid from the remaining houses or else be banned from COB and informal.

Last rush there was at least one girl who brought in hair and makeup stylists. She and they all stayed over at the Graduate in a suite so she could be perfect before going out each night for rush. She said couldn't stay in the dorms because she didn't want to risk violating the silence rule by communicating with other PNMs but we all knew that was fake af

She's a now sister at a mid tier

Gold, did she get cut from houses because they knew she had hair/makeup stylists? Seems really over the top!

Just because a sorority accepts a lot of girls doesn't mean that sorority isn't a good fit for you! Be open minded! Don't listen to other girls or greek rank or even coaches!!!

I hope those coaches refund money if you don't match with a good house

I used a coach and am in an upper mid tier. I’m so glad I had the help, I’m OOS and knew nothing about the whole recruitment process. I say if you need the help, get one. She gave me so much confidence.

Anyone who thinks this is not a competition is crazy. There are only a limited number of spots in each seat. Sorry, but I did not want to be middle or lower tier. I would have dropped.

It's obvious that at last one girl in my group has been "coached"

This is another critical time when coaches really add value to their clients, through their relationships with partner organizations on Grounds to help with negotiating post-match offers (snaps) and special access to COB events.

How do you find a rush coach? Can you recommend one that has experience with UVA Recruitment? Thanks!

When does COB start?

COB has technically already started with preference to PNM's the houses have already met and liked.

Girls who didn't rush are not eligble
