Just read N&O article about new law that lets student have an attorney when meeting with Student Affairs staffers. More importantly, the new law was written because the UNCW Greek office and the Dean of Students held a kangaroo court to suspend SAE. So the SAE's went and got a law passed so that other fraternities and sororities don't get treated the same way. Its the first law like this in the nation which is inpressive. The new law is called the Students and Administrative Equality Act or SAE Act. Too cool!!!! The Greek Community thanks SAE!!!

So Dean Walker is a TKE. And TKE gets off for severe charges and we are to somehow believe Dean Walker didn't play favorites to his own fraternity. Really ???

Dean Walker had no part in dealing with TKE due to the obvious conflict of interest. The matter was handled by Assistant Dean of Students/supervisor of the Coordinator for fraternity and sorority life, Dr. Chip Phillips.

Article out that just told about the Dean being in TKE and how they got special treatment since he's a TKE. Not so incredible or surprising.

Faculty would be the first to tell you that students often complain about their mistreatment and the total disregard of the right of due process. This law seems a solid first step in addressing the arrogance of those that are given the power they abuse.

Just read that this new law was originated because of our campus administration wasn't playing fair. Thank you to those that got this law passed that will help both Greeks and non-Greeks.

Dean Walker was directly involved in dealing with TKE. They were given one semester probation for an identical alcohol violation as SAE, who were suspended for 2 1/2 years. While on probation, TKE was investigated for hazing and placed on a cease and desist order that prevented them from any activity. Even though they were on cease and desist for the investigation AND on probation for the alcohol violation, Dean Walker intervened and allowed TKE to attend an alumni gathering at the Azalea Festival. That is a fact, and there are emails to support this. TKE was then found guilty of hazing. They were given the minimum punishment of 1 year suspension for violating probation. Hazing, alcohol violation, and probation violation resulted in a total of 1 year suspension. Dean Walker intervened alright.
