junior rush

by: Dkddkdhd

So I'm going to be a junior in the fall and I'm thinking about rushing. I was interested in previous years but I just didn't feel right about it until now. I'm not particularly concerned about tier. I think I'm cute enough and nice/funny enough that I probably would've gotten a bid somewhere two years ago, but am I fooling myself now? I'll be here for two and a half more years because of my program, so I'll have a bit of time with any house. I'm okay with being a twin or the same age/older than my big. Idk I'd just like some opinions. Do I have a chance if I prepare well?

Hi! I just wanted to let you know that regardless of your age, you will end up in the house you were meant to. I know everyone says that but like once you experience rush you will truly understand. The majority of houses will take juniors, and some take more than others typically. While some shy away, but this should not deter you from rushing whatsoever! When I recruited last year, I did not look at age as a factor. You do have a chance and just be yourself! Remember, you don't want a house that doesn't see the true value you in you! Best of luck in the fall! <3

Wow that's a nicer response than I expected from anyone thanks! I just know of several cases where girls who seem like they should get a bid don't get into any houses and I worry that with my luck that's what I'd inevitably be faced with lol. You said you didn't focus on age but did a lot of other girls in your chapter do so? Do you know if girls in other chapters really cared about it? Also did your chapter actually end up taking anyone older than a sophomore? Sorry I'm just a worrier.

Not at any decent house. The best houses want girls who will be there for 4 years. There are enough great girls that you really are at a huge disadvantage no matter if you are a Victoria secret model with an IQ of 200. Sorry but it's true.

Well I mean I could literally care less if a house is considered good since I think the tier system is ridiculous. I'd be 100% fine with a house other people consider "low tier." I'm more curious if a girl that was otherwise a good PNM could get a bid from any house.

I'm in what some people would consider a top house & in my PC & in many of friends houses a good number of juniors get bids! Don't be nervous! All you have to do is be yourself & you'll get a bid from the best fit for you, regardless of your year, good luck :)

Are these juniors generally happy? Like do most of them stay? Are they alienated because they're older than their PC? Also are most of them twins w/a freshman as their twin?

I think most of them are happy! I'm assuming that if you're rushing as a junior, you would rather have the Greek college experience, because you've had time to not be in a sorority & are looking for something different. Some are twins but in my house, there are juniors who are the only little to their big

I rushed as a junior and had a full schedule all the way through with houses in all tiers thru prefs. My bid was from the lower tier house Not my choice but I am still glad I joined. Do I wish I got the top or mid tier house that I wanted? Honestly, sometimes but the experience is still more than worth it and I have a lot of friends in my house. Would the result have been the same if I'd rushed as a sophomore? I'll never know but if you want the experience you aren't getting any younger so go for it

that is why you had to settle on the lower tier house. YOUR AGE DID NOT HELP YOU.....

Lmao no one's saying that age makes it easier and also the tier system is a load of BS so I don't know what you're getting so upset about

I rushed as a junior and the only top tier house that dropped me with KD. I ended up in a top tier house and love it , i think people that say it's WAY harder are ridiculous and just use being older as an excuse for getting dropped

where in the hell have you been for the last 2/3 years? Get a life. We do not like Juniors and Seniors that Rush. Grow up.... We want underclassman, unless you transferred from JC. I do not understand rushing at 21/22.... what is the point?

I do not understand the Junior/Senior rush process, you needed to do this long time ago... I have to agree with the last statement.... Grow up, you missed the boat.

Why would you say this? Why wouldn't a junior want to rush?

I have to agree. I rushed as a incoming freshman. Have been in my house for 4 years. WE will take the freshman over the upperclassman any day of the year. We want people for 3/4 years. Not just a year or 2. Sorry ladies.

That is ridiculous! What are you taking about? I rushed as a junior and I was 19! People are busy and involved in different things. I danced my first 2 years and didn't think I had time for both. As a senior I am a lot more committed then some of the upperclassmen that are burned out. If you are a quality girl who cares what class you are in. If there are 80 spots open each year wouldn't it be better to pick a quality junior than settling for a freshman bc they MIGHT stay involved for 4 years?

I would totally feel out of place as a junior or senior going to baby social with the frat. The guys are 18 years old and you are 21 or 22 years old? There are plenty of quality underclassmen that we will take over an upperclassman. Period. I am sorry this offended you? Your PC class has an average of 18/19 years of age Grandma... Please stay home, we do not want Juniors or Seniors. YOU DID MISS THE BOAT. THIS IS WEIRD THAT YOU DID NOT GROW UP.

Don't listen to all the haters! I pledged as a junior and all that petty crap doesn't matter unless YOU make it a problem. you won't feel awkward unless you are insecure and you don't sound insecure You will have a good experience You are not too old. all the non-top tiers would do well to choose gorgeous juniors over mediocre freshmen anyway. Good luck!

As someone of average looks, great personality (also not shy), and someone heavily involved holding positions in some of the biggest organizations on campus I was dropped. There is nothing wrong with me and I ended up happy when I went through another sororities (may that be pan or social) recruitment process and ended up where I am happy. They do choose underclassmen over upperclassmen and if you are not best friends or very close with a lot of sisters in a certain sorority than just keep your mind open that you might now get a bid. They all ask why you waited to rush and I had a good reason, wanted to get into my competitive major and get more involved before I did and sometimes that isn't a good enough reason. Just be positive through the process because it doesn't mean you aren't good enough!
