greek life at miami

Compared to large SEC schools, Miami Greek life is very substandard. Partying here is probably equivalent but the houses here generally are smaller and outdated, alumni involvement is lesser because there's no football, and the university admin here has much more control over us because there isn't the type of major $ flowing in from sports and big time donors.... I'd stay at the SEC school if you're in a good chapter there

Miami's alum involvement is a joke. True that big donors are Greek but they're donating to other parts of the university academics and professor chairs, not building Greek mansions. Also since sororities don't have houses, it limits the influence from 1/2 the alumni population. In this sense the ecosystem is limited vs at SEC schools where it's more significant. DOn't get me wrong there's good history here it's just maxed out from the time 150 yrs ago they started. Sigma Chi doesn't even HQ here, Phi Tau is nonexistent on a national stage so it really leaves just Beta Phi Delt and DZ

maybe bigger than some, but not the majority. And with Oklahoma and Texas- Austin joining SEC it will just further prove that SEC Greek Life is far superior. It is not more worth it here at Miami than these other places

Plenty of alumni involvement with my chapter. The largest donors to Miami are usually Greek. Very few schools anywhere have the history of the Miami Greek system: 4 frat alpha chapters with 6 frats on campus for 150+ yrs. 1 srat alpha with 4 srats on campus 100+ years. The percentage of students at Miami who are Greek is top 10 of all colleges in US.
