rushing as a sophomore
by: SophomoreAre there any downsides to rushing as a sophomore?? I’ve heard things like it’s harder because you aren’t paying dues as many semesters or that top tiers won’t usually take you.. but then some people say it can actually be a good thing so I’m just not sure

If you didn't rush as a freshman, or are not sure about rushing as a freshman, one of the biggest benefits to rushing as a sophomore is having a chance to get to know the houses and the sisters better. You come in knowing yourself and the chapters better, and sophomores are usually more confident in their choices. Also, as you typically have friends in the houses and you've gotten to know actives better, you have a larger pool of people to talk you up to their sisters.
But waiting until sophomore year also provides more chances for you to have a bad class or two that kill your GPA or for you to earn a bad reputation. Since rush isn't until second semester, freshmen often feel they've gotten to know the houses and are more comfortable then.
