What Happened at Clemson this year?

by: WTF

So, what happened with NPC recruitment this year? So, so many great girls cut and many dropping out. Why was there all the dirty rushing? It was ridiculous!

Girls were NOT cut! They chose not to accept bids from lower houses there is a HUGE difference!

Yes, girls were cut. Several after video round. You didn't have to give that news or see their tears. I did.

Stop pretending, you are so obvious. A real pi chi knows very well that there are releases at every round by all the chapters but cut by all chapters is a small handful and not after 1st round. And would not comment like that.

Nothing happened. No dirty rushing, chapters released pnm's at every round as usual which does not equate to pnm's being completely dropped, and the same percentage of pnm's drop every year when they think they only want certain houses and don't want to give others that want them a chance. So just a normal rush, quit $hit stirring.

I guess the real question is cut by which sororities then. They weren’t cut from rush. I don’t understand why if there are so many truly “great girls” why aren’t they strong enough to continue through rush and make the lower houses stronger? It’s a numbers game and top houses have to make cuts early. If you were truly a pi chi I’m sure you should know that.

This is what happens every year at Clemson rush. If you look at stats, Clemson has a very high drop rate compared to other schools. About 15-20 percent of girls drop at Clemson compared to the Bamas and Auburns that place 95 percent of PNM. Why? Not sure- the algorithm is only as good as the people who run it and most likely they have too many cuts too early. Clemson NPC needs to take a long hard look at how many cuts they are forcing early in the process and understand what they need to do to not force so many drops. Maybe they need to benchmark with USC who had an amazing rush this year.

Well Panhellenic could make rush a couple more days long and have all of the houses meet all of the PNMs (which I agree with). The problem is that this step won’t change anything. It will only give the illusion that the PNMs actually have a chance with the top houses. PNMs will likely end up at the same place but the process won’t feel so “icky” because they only get 3-4 houses back before they ever meet a team live person

Nope, what a waste of everybody's time, going around to 13, 14 now, chapters. You really don't know what you are talking about. The preliminary cuts would still already be made in the summer like always. The sororities spend all summer looking at Pnm's registration info - grades, resume, social media, recs, if they know them already from high school or home town, and video - and they get everything they need to know to invite a pnm back or not.
In-person first rounds are GRUELING and nobody wants to go back to that. And because of "icky" feelings by girls just out of high school who don't know any better? Like they still wouldn't feel "icky" about the exact same cuts? FEEEEELINGS omg please, grow up.

sounds like you are saying pnms you already know from high school or hometown have a better chance and that you have already made decisions before you meet pnms.

What do you think the sororities do with all the pnm's registration information? Why do you think all that's required for all pnm's? It always has been, and used to determine round 2 invitations, for decades, except now the requirement for a pnm to have alumnae recs to get a bid has been eliminated at the national level, and so has extending the required legacy courtesies. So not having a rec is not an automatic cut like it used to be, and being a legacy does not require a sorority to invite her back for round 2 and have to cut another pnm to make room for her. So yeah, decisions have ALWAYS already been made before round 2 but the recent changes have made the process more equitable than ever for both pnm's and chapters. As far as pnm's already known by members, that is of course a factor, you can't unknow people and disregard impressions and memories they have already made on you in person, but it can work in pnm's favor or against it, a definite two-way street for known pnm's. Clemson is two thirds in state students and the big out of state chunk comes from NC, GA, NY and NJ, and the sorority memberships reflect the same make up, so sororities have members that will already know girls from their areas, and their opinions, as voting sorority sisters, have influence in chapter voting. But pnm's WOULD NEVER make decisions ahead of recruitment, would they? They wouldn't go onto greekrank, or tiktok, or pay attention to 'ranks' and focus on a few sets of Greek letters to make decisions about sororities without ever meeting a sorority member? No way LOL.
