mixers
by: CWhy are there so few mixers now? My freshman year, sororities had mixers with different fraternities every week. Why is there so much pressure to mix with the same few fraternities over and over again? I understand sororities want to be top tier, but most of the fraternities just agree to mix with anyone who asks. Mixers aren't an indication of status, so why act like your sorority is exclusively associated with a few fraternities when everyone knows it isn't true?

All of the sororities here think they're top tier with the exception of a couple, so they all want to mix with only the top tier. It's really stupid and it's getting worse every year. We're literally up to like 3/4 of the fraternities having 0 or 1 mixer per year. I wish that was an exaggeration, but it literally isn't

At most other schools, everyone just mixes with everyone. It’s not a big deal. If you don’t want to mix with them, you just don’t show up, but at least it gives people the opportunity to meet everyone and get an impression of each Greek organization every year. I wish it was like that here, but as long as everyone is so immature and self absorbed it’s going to continue to get worse

It’s nice to see someone have a discussion on here instead of posting fake rankings or putting people down. I’m a senior and rarely check this website, but I really don’t understand why a lot of the top sororities have mixed with as little as 4 fraternities since I’ve been here (at least of the ones left on campus). Are there really only 4 fraternities good enough for you? Do you think it’s beneficial to your own social lives for every sorority to mix with the same 300 guys (most of which only show up to mixers with the actual top tier sororities). Every fraternity and sorority is now 100% different people than when I first came here 3 years ago. How would you even know if you like the guys in the (roughly 16/23 fraternities) that no one mixes with

The fraternities brought a lot of this upon themselves. To complain that sororities only ask the top three or four fraternities to mix is no different than fraternities only wanting to mix with the top four or so sororities. You don't see any fraternities beating down the door to mix with any of the "lower tier" sororities.
It's also all the fraternities bashing each other here all the time that reflects badly on each other.
