old frat houses
by: RoverDid frats have houses back in the day or did they just party on the quad? I know Pikes house was mellow mushroom and AGR bought their house in the seventies. Anybody know who built the kappa sig house or if the whitehouse was always a frat house?

Everyone pretty much partied in the quad up until the early 2000's. Even heard a story of guys installing keg taps in the walls and running the lines to a room with multiple kegs. There were off campus houses like pike's but they weren't used nearly as much as we use the off campus ones today

not true at all. a bunch of Pi Kapps in the mid 90s bought it from the landlord. KS never had a house until recently.
KA, SN and SAE all had houses but they were owned by alumni and eventually taken away. ATO has the old SAE house. SN's was sold and KA, I think still has their's but they aren't allowed to use it.

Back in the day, everyone had party houses that were further away - KA's Lodge, SN's Lake House, SAE's Ski Lodge so did Phi Delt, LXA, Delta Chi in Six Mile or Seneca.
Pike and AGR were the closest except for Beta who originally had the "White House" in the 80s & 90s they got kicked out then Pi Kapp had it for a year before they bought the apartment building that is now the KS house.

Didn't know Fiji was every around long enough to have a house. Pike has been out on 93 since the 70s. The orginal KA house was the Mellow Mushroom and SAE and Beta were on North Clemson. ATO had a house close to AGR.
Those where the only close to campus. SX, DX, Phi Delt and LXA all had places far away and SN had Danny Ford's old house on the lake.
There has never been a Greek Row unfortunately. If AGR and KS can raise enough money from the alumni I am sure KA, ATO & SN can.

Not sure where you heard that buts it's definitely not true, Chi Phi built that house before they got kicked off

Had houses from early in Clemson's history but they were mostly for extra housing when fraternities got too big as opposed to party places.
When they did use them for parties they were usually evicted quickly or let the houses go to crap and get evicted. I think there are maybe only 3 houses that still have their original owners.

that house was an apartment building that Pi Kapp took over in the 90s and lost it when they were kicked off. That's according to my uncle, he swares Pi Kapp raged and was top tier but that's hard to believe.

And Kappa Sig had The house before Pi Kapp had it then. When they were kicked off they let Pi Kapp rent it out.
