The world 10 years ago

What did FSU's fraternity landscape look like in 2010? ATO and SAE, Theta Chi and Sig Ep were all just coming off five year suspensions so they were not competitive. All had been Top Tier in the early 2000s. In 2010 the 5 big powers were Pike, Delt, Phi Delt, Phi Sig, Pi Kapp, Sigma Chi and Lambda Chi. Now, 6 of those 7 are gone!! Think about that.
SAE has come back part way. Sig Ep has come back more or less. ATO and Theta Chi have come back strong. But those other former Top Tier fraternities need to come back for FSU to recover any credibility as a strong system. This Administration, plus the bad behavior by some undergrads, have done tremendous damage to us. The Administration needs to be more helpful, but I don' see that happening.

When all those frats come back they’ll be coming after much longer than a 5 year suspension so it’ll be rough to say the least , despite how strong the alumni are

Lambda chi and sigma Nu and I think Chi Phi Are eligible to come back right now. Sigma chi will be eligible next year. It doesn’t matter how long a fraternity has been gone if they know how to build a chapter quickly from scratch. Obviously some nationals do and some don’t. Sigma chi, ATO and SAE were all tremendous top tier chapters when they were in the house where Kappa Sig is now. This is the best kappa Sig has ever been in their history and they are barely middle. Make of that what you will.

No nationals want to come to fsu right now . It’s a horrible investment that takes years and what’s the point when each consecutive year there’s statistically a 1/4 chance your chapter will gets kicked off/suspended within the school year. Chi phi most likely will come back in spring , because they were recent enough but will start off at the bottom tier no matter what. But LXA and Sigma Chi have nothing to build off of. No house no recent alumni or anything. FSU does not have the climate rn to build a good new fraternity. Pi Lam is struggling as is

Not to be argumentative but Pi Lam is a small national. As soon as Sigma Chi hits, tons of guys will want to join. Their alumni own land in college town. Lambda Chi built and owns theSigma Pi house which they rent to them.

I can see chi phi and lxa coming back within the next two years. Sigma chi not so much. Also doubt they would be too good, kids just don’t wanna join a fraternity from scratch they way things are rn, having big nationals isn’t gonna change that . Cool kids just don’t join new frats unless their dads were alumni or something. They’ll have to work their way up just like every other frat

Interesting what YE said about working their way up. None of the sororities that have come back have managed to break into the top half. Alpha Phi is close but AOPi and SDT are still near the bottom. With sorority rush so strict I wonder if any sorority can ever break into the top tier. Fraternities can, but sororities maybe not.
