regretting sorority decision?

by: Rush19

Has anyone had / heard anyone's experience on joining a sorority that they didn't end up fitting in with? What could you do if you thought you chose the right sorority but then end up realizing it wasn't the one? I keep hearing about how you'll "just know" which one is for you but I can't help but worry that I'll mess up somehow and end up wasting time and money.

Most girls would not switch out of their sorority even if it was allowed. Most girls find their group within their sorority. It may not be the first group you find yourself with so just keep meeting new people within. Not everyone is going to click but all you need is a few girls to be close to for you to be happy.

Some people just end up not like sorority in general. But a lot of people go top for the status of “being top” and drop immediately after they find out they’re just not with their people. Huge that you go through rush and fall in love with the people on the house not the name.

In my sorority there’s probably 4 girls I can count That dropped “top tier” sororitys to join mine (before they got initiated) that is considered “upper mid” - I guess in their opinion, they knew that investing all their time and money into a sorority they didn’t feel welcomed in was worth rushing again for a genuine sisterhood - for that I applaud them and I feel bad they couldn’t see they were making the wrong choice by picking a sorority for the letters the first time around! Pick one where you CAN ALWAYS BE YOURSELF!!!

That’s interesting.. in the last two years we’ve had almost 7-9 girls who dropped their mid and upper mid houses before initiation and went top tier. They realized they settled and those girls weren’t their people.
Go where your heart leads and don’t settle

I messed up, I'll be honest. I'm miserable and will likely drop. I went with a mid tier but also had a top tier at prefs, and I thought it would be nicer to me in mid. I was wrong
