why is dg done?

Their national offices are closing them bc they were way too small compared to all of the other chapters and they couldn’t operate tbh. Like every single member had to hold a position this semester and that’s just unrealistic. And statistically, they weren’t gaining members. Like they’d have a small pledge class one year then they’d kind of bounce back but then for like 4 years straight it’s just been small pledge classes. Like too small like less than 20 girls.
Now what came first, DG’s operational challenges Leading to a lower “social standing” with frats, lower UDance fundraising, and overall image issues, thus making PNMs not wanna join? Or was it all the outsider opinions and hate DG caught for being nothing less than themselves since forever that caused them to have low PNM retention that then led to their operational issues? The world may never know 🧐

Here's the real tea. UD's DG chapter exemplified what Panhellenic life was designed for: service & sisterhood. The girls commenting on their insta post are the same girls who dropped out of formal recruitment when they went through it and got DG AND the same girls who were rude to their faces in rounds. As someone heavily involved in formal recruitment in past years at UD, I can say first hand that girls going through recruitment do everything they can to get rid of DG as FAST as they can. Why do they do something so rude you ask? Because of frat boys. They hear what chapters frats want to mix with and think are "hot" and then get butthurt when they get dropped from them. VERY few of them join their organizations because they're genuinely interested in service or sisterhood because to them it's all about social climbing and bragging rights. This is especially ironic considering how many fraternities fake CAP points and don't spend even an ounce of time on philanthropy unless a "hot" chapter wants to run a fundraiser with...uh I mean...FOR them. Furthermore, the chapters considered to be the most desirable also seem to have the most issues with sisterhood...interesting. Could it be that when you recruit based on looks you end up with a chapter of girls who don't actually share the same values and get along? It's unfortunate that we don't want to have a conversation about the culture on this campus and the values of some of the chapters here that are still allowed to function. I think we should all take this time to look into the history and values that our organizations say they stand for and reflect on what we can do to exemplify them because a chapter that excelled where we falter is being punished for our mistakes. But y'all frat stars not ready for that conversation

Repeating from another thread
Here is another piece of the puzzle no one has mentioned, I’m going to go ahead and wager that none of us work as hard on recruitment as DG works on their’s.
Look I’m not saying we haven’t given up plenty of our time for rehearsals and being there late at night to set up and breakdown the rooms and be trapped in Germ infested bubbles talking with hundreds of strangers, but I’ll be honest One of the reasons I know that I hate recruitment practice is 80% of the time it doesn’t matter for my chapter except to maybe rehearse a couple of bump groups and fast facts so we don’t look like complete morons. We could literally show up to our room, not decorate, not make a video, and talk about the bachelor, And we would still probably make quota with girls who want to join our chapter. Just based on the name alone! How stupid is that? Obviously we wouldn’t be getting the pledge class that we wanted but there would still be 60 girls who would want to join us just because i don’t even know why (don’t get me wrong, my chapter is pretty rad).
Meanwhile DG is killing themselves to fill a pledge class and still when they extend bids girls wouldn’t even show up to their bid day to give it a chance.

It’s because this Greek life is toxic and the longer I’m in it the easier it is to see.
