No. COB is totally separate from fall formal recruitment. All chapters participate in formal recruitment in the fall. Only chapters who fall below campus total are eligible to give out COB bids! Typically, AXO, DDD, PBP, ADPI, and ZTA are your best shot of participating in COB because they historically fall a bit below campus total. Some have more spots open than others, if they have any at all. If you want to be considered for COB, you have 2 options. 1) Reach out to the Panhellenic Exec director of recruitment OR president to let them know your intentions - use a form if they post about one. 2) Reach out to a member of a chapter you are interested in joining (COB is really gonna MAX allow 5 chapters out of 9 MAYBE - XO, DG, OM, and KD almost NEVER have spots for COB) & tell them to get you in contact with their recruitment chair. With COB, you can kind of target a specific chapter that you want (not guaranteed a bid though), whereas formal recruitment kind of goes beyond your hands tbh. The only con is that you won’t have the full 9 chapters as an option.
