They won't really put you ahead of other people (except for the girls who don't know about rec letters altogether) because so many girls have them. Some chapters even require a rec letter before giving girls bids on preference day (required alum endorsement). I'd say try to get one for every chapter as long as the person writing it is in good standing with their sorority and writes quality things about you. Rec letters add just one more way the chapters get to know you. Also, I really wouldn't worry to much about being a minority most of our houses are very inclusive. It might even make you more memorable since actives meet hundreds of girls a day and they all start blend together. Best of luck to you Greek life is a wonderful experience.
