I would encourage you to go for it. On one hand, you've been through the process, so you know what to expect. On the other, I've heard being a sophomore might work (to whatever degree) against you. But what have you got to lose - worst case you end up where you already are. I will say this: I preffed a top house and a mid house. I almost suicided the top house because I was super confident that I'd get a bid. Well, I got a bid to the mid house and was pretty bummed out. Partly because I got a little caught up in the whole tier thing (which is so stupid in retrospect). I would have been in your position had I suicided. However, I absolutely love the house I'm in and I got over my disappointment fairly quickly. I've made some great friends with my sisters and had some super memorable times with my sorority last year. I'm really looking forward to living in the house this year, and I have a lot of close friends in quite a few other houses. I would recommend that you keep a very open mind about your options and don't be hell bent on a top house, should you choose to rush. If you get a bid to one, great. If not, you might be surprised at how much another house could be a good fit for you. There are numerous high achievers in every sorority at Mizzou. Lots of girls pref top sororities and don't get a bid. Many find happiness in other houses.
