First of all, you just gave out way too much information about yourself. Second of all, it is YOUR rush. Not theirs. You will be the one visiting the houses and ordering your ranking card; therefore, you can do whatever you want! If you go through rush and don't feel at home at Chi O but feel at home somewhere else, then go where your heart is and your family will hopefully (eventually) understand (even if it takes a while). What is most important is that you find your own home. This is where you will be spending your time the next four years and the friends you will have for life. Chi O gave your family that, so find the place that will give you that. It will probably be hard to ignore all the things they say, but this is a time where you need to think about yourself, because this decision doesn't affect anyone else, except for your family maybe not getting to come to your initiation.
