It just means that they have strong alumnae chapters and a large presence in all regions of the country (West, Midwest, Northeast, South). It's only really important if you expect that you'll move to a different region and want to join an alumnae chapter (or heaven forbid, the Junior League). For example, Tri Delt, KD, and Phi Mu are pretty (in)famous for having strong chapters in the South but they're not strong in the North at all. You should just go with whatever sorority you love though. Having a happy and successful 4 years at university will affect your life way more than joining a good alumnae group.
