<strong>Subject:</strong><br />bama sorority fees?<br /><br /> Poster Message:
Hi. I am new to forum. I read a couple of posts, but I am still somewhat confused about sorority fees. My d is in the process of selecting a college. UA is in her top three. We visited last summer and found the campus to be beautiful and the people we met extended a warm southern hospitality to us. My d has repeatedly expressed interest in joining a sorority and it seems like Greek life is big at UA and that it would be a good idea-particularly if she ends up going to UA. I think we would need to budget for sorority costs if she chooses UA. Personally, I had no interest in joining a sorority in college and I remain ignorant of much that goes on in regards to Greek life. I read a few older posts that explained that initiation fee is somewhat high to start with and gave an estimate on fees for living both in the house and not in the house (or posters shared their fee amounts). While the initiation fee and fees when not living in the house might seem high, I don't understand that some feel fees are high when they live in the house. I saw estimates of fees of around $12k per year; if that includes food and living at sorority house, it seems reasonable to me. Can someone please share additional info? I understand there are quite a few incidental expenses- gifts, trip, formal, clothes- but are the dues higher than what I saw? Thanks in advance for any info you can share.
