I think that for some people Greek Life is a big factor in their college choice (it was in mine). BUT - school is most important! Alabama needs to be the right school for you for other reasons too. Do we have your major? Do we have the right scholarships for you if that is an issue? Are you okay with the distance from home? Do you think you would thrive academically here? These are all questions that are more important than Greek Life, but if the answer to all of those is yes, then in my opinion it is perfectly okay for our awesome Greek Life to be the deciding factor! But no, you shouldn't come here ONLY for Greek Life. When I was deciding where to go, I was between 2 schools with big Greek Life. I knew I only wanted to go to a school that had that. But that wasn't the most important thing in my decision. The schools I was between also had my major and the right scholarships that I needed. They were the right distance from home, and I felt that it was the right environment academically and socially for me to thrive. One way to think about it is, if you were to for some reason get cut from every house during recruitment (which I'm not saying is going to happen but it is possible), would you be happy here anyway? Would you be happy here even if you weren't Greek?
