Hey girl, PLEASE don't worry about those things!! First, there are sooo many OOS PNMs now that there are many girls who don't have any connections to old row or new row houses, but they still have very successful recruitments! If you can, make every effort to attend Panhellenic Preview Weekend in the Spring-this will give you a chance to see what sorority life is all about, check out the houses, and meet actives in all groups! This can also help you get on the sororities' radars, so to speak, and you may end up being invited to spring teas and other fun events so members can get to know you better. Also, please get 2 recs for EVERY chapter if at all possible. Recs are absolutely essential and really help chapters to determine whether they think you could be a good fit. Also, please don't worry about being middle class!!! Most UA girls aren't living in mansions, wearing nothing but Lilly and Yurman, and driving new BMWs. Sure, some are, but you'll be able to figure out which groups these girls tend to be in very quickly, and the other groups could care less about those things. So you should still have lots of wonderful options, regardless of how much money your family has :). Just make sure you have great grades/ HS activities/volunteer work, RECS, a polished appearance (doesn't have to be expensive-just think classy and classic, and look your personal best), and try to be as outgoing, friendly, and fun as possible. Also, remember to keep an open mind to ALL groups. Good luck!
