I went through recruitment this year and I loved it. It was so much fun and I really enjoyed it despite how superficial it is. The problem was Bid Day. I prefer three houses and I fell head over heels in love with this one house. I felt like I was at home and I had a genuine connection with all the girls I spoke to and their philanthropy was my heart and soul. During preference, I got to speak to three different girls, but the third girl absolutely blew me away. She made me feel like I was already her sister and I was finally able to truly relax. All three of them showered me with love and it was great. Then I visited my other two houses, but they paled in comparison. I wanted to suicide bid, but I talked to my RhoChi and she advised me against it and told me that about 90% of girls get their first choice, so I was stoked. I spent that night looking at sorority crafts and coolers and thinking about formal and that night was the most easygoing night I had the whole week. Then it's Bid Day and I'm sitting with one of the girls in my RhoChi group that I had gotten really close with over the week. We found out that we had ranked the same house first. Then it's time to open our bids and she got the house, while I got my second pick. I remember being surrounded by over 2000 screaming girls as I burst into tears and ran to my RhoChi to tell her that I wanted to drop. We went to exec and I was removed from the roster immediately. Reality, of course, came crashing down later.
