Be careful that you don't sound pompous and catty. That's the only thing that's worse than sounding unintelligent and catty. And just a suggestion... You should look up the term "due diligence" before you use it again. It means investigating to satisfy a legal requirement, especially prior to buying or selling something. Since there are no legal requirements in question there was no due diligence to do. Perhaps you can apologize to the person to whom you were addressing your LAW 101 rant.
