Having fun is up to you regardless of whether you're greek. That being said, you will probably be more active, involved, meet more people, etc. as a greek. I sense that the sorority you got a bid from was a lower tier house and that's one reason you don't feel like you fit in. I see you have three options. One, be happy or sad as an independent. Your choice. Two resolve to rush next year. Problem is that my house took 140 freshmen and 7 sophomores. That's not good odds that you'll get a better house next year. In fact, you probably won't get a bid. Then see #1. Three, make the most of your life as it really is. Go to the house and introduce yourself to girls you don't yet know. Hang out meeting other people. Run for office in your class. Ask a pledge sister to study together. The more you throw yourself into the experience the more you'll get out of it. None of the sororities here is bad. Some are put down on greek rank but that's by older ladies who are defending their old row houses against the onslaught of the newer houses. Don't fall for it. The house you got loves you and the ones that cut you didn't want you. So give them some love in return and it will be returned a million-fold.
