If APhi could actually retain members they wouldn't have to stoop to this kind of entrapment. They know that second years won't drop if they're stuck with a housing contract. If they waited to force a housing contract in the spring, those freshmen, having experienced life in APhi, would be just as happy to drop than be forced to live in, so they have to get them early in order to fill the house. If APhi continues to recruit based on superficial qualities instead of real substance then they are always going to have a membership/sisterhood/retention problem.
