I came to UA with a long-term bf. He was in school 12 hours away too. We ended up breaking up fairly quickly because I realized that being in a long distance relationship was too much stress for me personally at the start of my freshman year. I am now dating a guy I met at UA and we have been together for four years and are successfully doing a year of long distance. On the other hand, one of my close friends didn’t break up with her long distance bf when she came to UA and are still together and I have plenty of other friends who dated their hs bfs until their sophomore or junior years and then broke up. What I am trying to say is you and your bf are going to change a lot and sometimes that change can cause you to break up, but sometimes that change can bring you closer together. My biggest piece of advice is enjoy your freshman year and if you are meant to be together in the end, it’ll work out. Just don’t idealize things now and force expectations.
