Big scholarships.

I’m from Chicago and because of my high GPA and ACT score, I received a merit scholarship that almost covers all of my tuition each semester. As a result, my parents pay for my sorority fees because they aren’t really paying anything in tuition and if I had went to any other college, the cost would be so much more. If I would have stayed in IL, even my instate costs would have been so much more. I have friends from NY, MA and CA and that all made decisions based on scholarships and the costs of their instate schools. If you are Bama instate, the tuition is pretty low (in comparison to the cost of what other state schools charge their instate students). That said, only 25% of Bama’s campus is in Greek life because many can’t afford it. Greek life is definitely where the rich kids are on campus.
