Rush can be very overwhelming and i remember feeling conflicted on pref day but ultimately ended up choosing a house because I liked the girl I talked to on pref more in that house and knowing I'd be so happy to run home to her the next day. When looking back on it, yes she was an amazing girl and I was so happy but overall that house was not similar to me other than this one girl. The other house I prefed I know I would fit better in, but did not bond as well with the girl that prefed me. When you go through rush, yes it is important to make real connections with the girls, but don't let those connections let you judge the whole house, there are girls in every house that are similar to you, and you have to look past the one on one connections you make and look at the overall house as to where you best fit. Even though I love my house I regret that decision very much and know I would've been happier in the other house that overall is much more similar to me. Also they say go in with an open mind. I support this but also heavily disagree. It is important to not judge houses based on stereotypes, however they pair you in houses with girls that they know you are most similar to, not necessarily a representation as the chapter as a whole. This makes decisions more based on your connections with girls the purposefully know you'll get along with and not as much the overall house. I think it's important to know what each house is about and where you fit in best beforehand so you don't base it off one on one connections but the whole chapter.
