I’m in NR (and OOR) and we party at Jefferson houses. They are fun and many of my guy friends are in Jefferson houses. They have genuine brotherhoods. University frat parties are a lot bigger and have better band parties but those parties have a lot of people at them that don’t even go to Bama. I didn’t expect that. OR girls will generally not go to Jefferson parties (KD, Kappa, XO, PM, AXO). These girls all went to high school with OR frat guys so they stick together. If you are OOR, you will have difficulty getting a bid from OR frats. They are pretty exclusive to Southern guys. I’d just be careful to avoid any house that is too small to be able to host good parties and out of state formal events because it sucks not to have the funds to do those things that every other frat does. However, in those houses, you have a much better chance of pledging the same house with your friends, holding an officer position, and having a say about social events.
