exactly!! Tbh we’re more focused on speed and getting through the list than being mean lol. the only things i’ve heard members speak up against a pnm is if 1) she’s catty and cares about ranks, talks down other houses, and thinks she’s too good for other houses, 2) she was a known mean girl/bully in hs, or 3) she’s a strooong legacy at another house, only talked about 1 house, has active family members in another house (when this is the case we debate if its worth fighting for the PNM or if she’s just gung ho for this other house) houses that are more ~selective~ also have to cut more people so it’s really a numbers game and usually not personal. some houses also have to take more legacies one year than the other depending on how many are rushing. from someone who’s rushed PNMs for 2 formal recruitments, i really always think i’m gonna remember every girl and deciding her score is going to be easy but it never is lol. i always end up forgetting some names (thank god for my notes haha). i vibe with almost all of the pnms i talk to because of our matching so it’s hard to decide who has to get cut. ultimately, despite being a member and representative of my sorority, i’m not the only girl in my sorority. i have to consider — would this pnm have a friend group here? do i have a big for her in mind? are we what she’s looking for in a sorority experience and will she add value to our membership? what can i gauge about her character/values and would i want her as a future sister? can i see her fitting better and thriving in a different house?
