If you’re from the south/Alabama they are pretty much interchangeable. Location is very important and they recruit heavily in mountain brook/mobile/Montgomery/atlanta/New Orleans/charlotte. If you’re from far out of region, kappa will likely be more appealing Bc they have a large far OOS presence, Out of state southern girls will prob like KD better because KD is a southern house. KD has better grades than kappa but kappa has a much stronger national presence (especially texas). Both are party sororities but kappa is probably more party-oriented and laid back. kd gets a horrible rep on this site but on campus most people are indifferent; it’s a strong house. Most girls in KD and kappa will stick with their high school friends in dke/SAE/ka/chi o and don’t care to branch out.
