My guess is because typed in like Times New Roman it looks almost exactly like the real letters, and it also differentiates them from ADPim I know sometimes when I'm reading this site fast I'll read ADPi as AOPi. I have a friend who is an aoii at another school and she said they were told they couldn't abbreviate it as aopi in their insta bios, had to be aoii or the letters or alpha o or the full name 🤷‍♀️
