There are houses with no girls from “Mountainbrook” - or if they do that they were kind of outsiders in the community. And you can substitute any other Alabama “better” community or private school for Mountainbrook above. These girls are generally focused on a handful of houses where their friends are, that Mom’s back home have a certain impression of, where they know their friends, etc. This is generally - OR. And, THEY aren’t interested in other houses - typically NR. This bubble may lead to the belief that other houses aren’t competitive and that NOBODY is interested. In this view of the world these other people are “nobodies”, because they aren’t important to them and their social circle. I am not promoting any house or intending to slam Moutainbrook, just an honest look at the dynamics of rush. In many ways this holds true in various ways in life - where people cling to and have pride in their “tribe”. However, the current reality in rush is that about half the girls are from outside Alabama, and there is competition in many houses. So about half the girls aren’t motivated by where their HS friends are. The overall experience in these other houses in not “less”, unless you are going to miss being around your old HS friends. Agree this IS Of great importance to some, but not everyone these days. As far as COB - it seems houses with higher out of state and out of region members do lose more girls (and then COB) as they are more likely to get homesick, transfer, don’t want to pay/see the value, etc. But that doesn’t mean that during formal recruitment that there isn’t interested and competition for these houses (that may eventually COB). \n\n\n\n\n
