The school you went to plays a big role with the whole “in-state” argument. Then in-house connections/alumni support are also big. Example: two PNMs are identical on paper, both from Mobile with no strong connections in house. One girl went to one of the three big private schools, the other girl went to public school. They’ll probably go with the private school girl mainly for the fact that they probably have people in house who at least know of her and they know her parents had no problem paying $12k+ a year in private school tuition so it’s implied her family is financially stable/aware of the financial commitment.
