- Get as good a GPA as you can get (3.2+) and hone your study skills so you can do well in college. - Get involved in extracurriculars if you haven't already. Take on leadership positions. Maybe start a club. This kind of substantive thing will get you further than IG pics. - Get recommendation letters form all the houses either from sorority women you know personally (mom's friends, ask your teachers if they were in a sorority). Or ask a local alumnae organization to interview you and write you a letter. Or go on r/sororities and find letter writers in the rec letter megathread. But get letters from an alumna for every single house. - Practice talking to strangers (safely). Conversations are the name of the game in recruitment. Lots of girls think that they are good conversationalists and are surprised when they are cut from houses where they think they had a good connection. That's because the sorority members were carrying that conversation, though. - Stay off this site, don't base your decisions on rankings on the internet, and keep an open mind to the houses that want you during recruitment. I know rejection is hard and I know it's easy to get caught up in the mean-girls-esque drama of random strangers on the internet. But that's not reality. And recruitment isn't reality either. Recruitment doesn't tell you how you would actually fit into any of the houses. We have a large Greek system here at Bama and ALL of the houses here are wonderful and would be top on any other campus. So keep an open mind, be grateful to the girls who see potential in you and are choosing you to be their sister, and get your bid when you go through.
