several important points here. 1. Definitely rush and see what happens, who knows, transferring to Bama may put you back as a sophomore and that definitely works in your favor. If you still end up being a junior when you get here, I still think you should try out rushing as you may be surprised and end up getting a house you really like. If you don't get a house, COB. Almost all of the time COB works and you end up getting the house you wanted. 2. Stay away from SDT by all costs. SDT is not a traditional fun sorority at Alabama which you are most likely looking for. I can give you 100 reasons why you should stay away from them. They don't have any swaps or parties with fraternities and they really aren't included with the rest of greek life in regards to anything in the social aspect. In reality they are the outcasts in Greek society and are highly irrelevant. 3. Don't be picky and keep an open mind when you go through rush. Being with your age and class level, you are at a disadvantage and already the top sororities aren't going to be interested in you. However do not be discouraged by this. With you being at a disadvantage, all hope is not lost, but you will need to work harder than a lot of the other girls. Try / Give your best at every sorority and if I were you I would focus on lower middle tier to bottom tier houses (like DG, DZ, SK and Theta), because these are the ones that may give you a fair chance. Not to say top houses won't give you a chance, but they are already in high demand. Do not get caught up in ranks because every sorority on the row here is GOOD. The worst sorority at Alabama is better than top houses at other schools.
