There can be a lot of emphasis on GPA, and with good reason, but it doesn't always tell the whole story. I work with lots of PNMs and someone who earned a 2.9 taking AP and honors courses at a really hard, ranked high school might be a much better student than someone who got a 3.5 taking regular level classes at an average or easier school. There's often so much more to a PNM than that number. If you went to a tough school and took AP and honors, have the people doing your recs point that out. I don't know if it will help or make a difference, but it sure can't hurt.
