First, the whole tier ideology is so ridiculous. You can find some really great things about every house and some really crappy things about each house. Superficial people care about the tier of your sorority. Real people care that you are in a house with folks you enjoy being around. Their is a lot of similarity between applying for competitive colleges and sororities. Each house can only invite so many back and they need to invite back the folks that they know will yield the right percent of pledges. Just as you seek the right fit, they seek folks that seem to match the vibe of their house and that they feel may actually want to be there. Even if you were not purposely putting out the vibe that some houses were beneath you they might have sensed it and decided to move on to candidates that might actually list them.
