I find that "you make it to philanthropy" thing to be a little silly. Most houses have a pretty good idea whether they want you or not before you walk in the door. Sure, IWTs might change things, but after IWTs, I'd rather be dropped than strung along another round if they don't want me. I'm not actually sure that's a courtesy.
