Yes, I was poking around the UGA page and this is a repost topic from there, but I thought it was important enough to throw over here since the first round of cuts are today. If you are unhappy with your houses today, or before sisterhood, or before pref and think "I'll just drop and hope for a snap bid or to COB" you are not giving yourself a good chance to join greek life this year. Snap Bid: Offered by a house before bid day if the house didn't make quota through bid matching after pref. Only PNM's who did not attend the pref round are eligible for a snap bid. Snap bids are RARE and no PNM should count on one. Also, as the chance that the house you loved will have a snap bid and offer it to someone they did not invite back earlier in the week is insanely low. COB: After bid day, houses that still didn't make quota, or that are under chapter total, may offer bids through COB. COB bids are not all that common either, so PNM's should not consider this as a viable alternative. Houses offer these bids to girls who dropped them or dropped out of recruitment, or who didn't go through recruitment at all. They almost never offer a bid to a girl they previously released. Therefore, dropping out of recruitment because you don't like your choices will not yield you any other choices than you had at pref. This year with Sigma Kappa recruiting after everyone else that is a reasonable option, but other than that banking on a chapter that dropped you to offer you a snap bid or take you through COB is not reasonable. Give the houses a chance, if you take a bid you do not have to initate, and though you won't be eligible for COB, you can go through next year. Also, remember you are only meeting a handful of actives and none of your pledge class during recruitment, so taking more time, getting involved in the house, meeting your pledge class, etc. changes a lot of gals' minds on their houses.
