The fraternities and sororities own their properties, they take mortgages out with the University to purchase and build. The university has the ability to force a group out of house but they must pay a fair market value for the property. They did this for some of the houses that had to relocate for the stadium plaza expansion. Delta Sig house corporation owns the house and they have the option to keep it vacant until they re-colonize in 3 years or lease it for short term revenue. The university does have a say in whom Delta Sig could lease the house to in the short term based on their criteria of who is house eligible. Basically who has the numbers and financial strength to meet their obligations.
