Jealous? Not sure where you’re from- I was from AL. I was a lot like you. Worked the summer after graduation. Only trip I took was to Disney. And I talked about working. I was first gen college student. Both parents had $$, I could easily afford sorority. However, I THOUGHT I would sound mature and responsible. I was invited back to more OR than NR (I had a LOT of hometown reps). I also wasn’t a partier and said this. They didn’t have Greek rank then. Bottom line- I’m an only child (acting older sometimes comes with that title), was too serious and too mature (not stuck up). I was dropped from every house. I was very upset. Everyone else in my hometown got a bid. I was happy for them and visited their houses but I just wanted to be a part of it too. I went through informal/ COB that spring and joined a house I loved. Fortunately the sisters who rushed me had a lot in common with me! No one from my hometown was in this house. It was NR. I was happy and there 3-1/2 years (til graduation). So my tips? Don’t be too serious. It’s rare to have someone who can have a genuine conversation versus small talk at IWT. Philanthropy round will be better. Unless asked a question, try asking questions about the sister rushing you. Make it about them and their house. Everyone likes to talk about herself/ her house. Don’t mention girls with Daddy’s money. That’s just not classy.
