Hi Ladies, I am an adult risk adviser for one of the sororities. If your organization is insured my MJ Insurance, as most are, they have determined that if a bunch of women from the same sorority gather (anywhere)it becomes an official sorority party even if no checklist was submitted for insurance coverage by the chapter. If something happens while you are drinking, your house and every member of your chapter can be libel, and since you are drinking without claiming it as a house event and submitting proper checklist/insurance paperwork, your chapter is probably completely uninsured. You would be much better off to create a formal chapter-wide event with alcohol at the off campus gathering place to make sure you are insured.
