If your parents are still claiming you, they can put your living expenses ( room and board) on their tax returns or refund it out of a scholar share account ( tax free savings). My parents are paying for everything minus my scholarship. My scholarship made coming to Alabama from OOS about the same as my going to an in-state university. I have no loans. They have saved up for years into my scholarshare account. I have to provide them my full receipt from my house so they can break up my food and housing from the total bill.
